Charles Schmit age 93, 7235 East 600 North Bryant passed away Thursday morning at Adams County Memorial Hospital . He was born in Bryant April 12, 1917 the son of John and Anna (Fisher) Schmit. He was married February 4, 1961 to Martha Glassford and she died January 21, 2008. He was retired from New Idea in Coldwater and was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Surviving are one sister Virginia Grissom of Portland and several nieces and nephews and great and great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. David Hoying presiding. Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery . Richard DeWayne Gaskill age 56, 5900 North Street Salamonia died Tuesday at his residence. He was born in Jay County February 16, 1954 the son of Joseph and Esther (Maddox) Gaskill. He was married April 17, 1992 to Penny Boolman who survives. He was production supervisor at Coca-Cola having worked there for thirty nine years. He was a member of Salamonia Fire Department, Salamonia Town Board and Portland Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife Penny, father Joseph Gaskill of Portland, one son Zachary Gaskill of Portland, two daughters Mrs. Brian (Staci) Keen of Portland and Mandy Elsworth of Portland, step-son Nathan Romine of Portland, brother Joe Gaskill of Portland, sister Mrs. Jim (Jane) Platz of Constantine, Mi. Five grandchildren He was preceded in death by a sister Peggy Coats.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Phillips presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery . Imogene Raszkowski age 89, 4299 South 850 East Portland passed away early Tuesday morning at her residence. She was born in Union City , Indiana April 24, 1921 the daughter of Rock and Josedna (Grice) Prescott . She was married to Edward Raszkowski and he died in 2002. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church .
Surviving are three sons Edward E. Raszkowski of Union City, Indiana, Joe Raszkowski of Portland and Jim Raszkowski of Indianapolis, Two daughters Mrs. Bill (Pauline) Williamson of Fort Recovery and Mrs. Dan (Carol) Bousman of West Bend, Wi., Two brothers Dale Prescott of Union City and Phillip Prescott of Winchester, Two sisters Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Collins of Muncie and Joyce Sommers of Ft. Wayne Twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. in the Pleasant Hill Church with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery . Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church. Keith Horine Jr. age 53, 4200 South 100 West Portland passed away Sunday morning at his residence. He was born in Union City , Indiana September 7, 1956 the son of Keith and Patricia (Faull) Horine. He had worked for John Cheesaman Trucking.
Surviving are one daughter Melissa Strickrath of Hawaii , his mother Patricia Kneisly of Eaton , Ohio , three sisters Mrs. William (Brenda) Cosner of Eaton, Ohio Mrs. Terry (Penny) Huston of Winchester and Mrs. James (Denise) Harlow of Ethel, Mo. Proceeded in death by a brother Jeffrey Horine in 1980, abd father Keith Horine Sr.
Private family services will be held. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expences.

Beth A. Wehrly age 53, 702 West Seventh Street Portland died Saturday evening in Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie . She was born in Portland October 16, 1956 the daughter of Bill and Tonya (McGahey) Gibson. She was married August 4, 1973 to Randy Wehrly who survives. She had worked at C.T.S. in Berne for twenty nine years. She was an avid scrapebook designer, enjoyed landscaping and an animal lover.
Surviving are her husband Randy, Parents Bill and Tonya Gibson of Portland, One son Jim Wehrly (wife: Amy) of Portland, daughter Mrs. John (Kerri) Reynolds of Redkey, brother Rocky Gibson of Portland, sister Tammy Iliff of Portland and six grandchildren
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor John Dimmick presiding. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery . Iris Louise Loy age 93, 8791 South 450 West Ridgeville passed away Saturday morning in St. Vincent Hospital in Winchester . She was born in Jay County September 2, 1916 the daughter of Harry and Olive (Harty) Lynch. She was married December 24, 1935 to Kenneth L. Loy and he died February 12, 2004. She was the 1934 Valedictorian of Gray High School. She was a farmer’s wife and had worked for the license branch.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Darrel Borders presiding. Burial will follow in the Reitenour Cemetery in Ridgeville. Visitation will be prior to the services. Memorials can be made to Southern Comfort Hospice.

Claribel Elzey age 78, 401 East South Street Eaton , Indiana died Monday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie . She was born in Dunkirk July 28, 1932 the daughter of Cedrick and Viola Ivy (Wright) Stanton. She was married September 28, 1957 to Veryl James Elzey who survives. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are he husband James, Two sons Carl Duane Elzey of Hartford City and Kevin Lee Elzey Sr. of Andrews, Two daughters Barbara Ann Elzey of Eaton and Judith Faussett of Eaton, One brother Paul Stanton of Bluffton, Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

David J. Caldwell age 68, 2600 North 200 Portland passed away early Monday morning at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Portland August 7, 1941 the son of Floyd and Doris (Fifer) Caldwell. He was a farmer and journeyman wireman for IBEW Local 855. He served with the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. David (Jennifer) Blackford of Portland and Mrs. Aaron (Ginger) Gibson of Muncie. Four grandchildren Garhett and Matthew Blackford and Lane and Lila Gibson and several nieces and nephews.

Lynn A. Wimmer age 57, 721 West Walnut Street Portland passed away Wednesday morning at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Portland February 11, 1953 the son of Charles and Patricia (Hofer) Wimmer. He was married in May 2010 to Pennee Cay Carpenter who survives. He had been a construction supervisor and truck driver. He was a 1972 Portland High School graduate and Ivy Tech graduate.
Surviving are his wife Pennee, his mother Mrs. Wayman (Patricia) Haffner of Palm Bay, Fl., one son Eric Wimmer of Portland, one step-son Chad Caupp of Portland, one step-daughter Mrs. Aaron (Kristina) Kuhn of Portland, one brother Charles Wimmer of Bryant, two sisters Patricia Romine of Portland and Barbara Gagnon of Palm Bay, Fl. Three grandchildren and one step-granddaughter
