Betty J. Minch age 90, 200 North Park Street Portland passed away Thursday in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare. She was born in Jay County September 27, 1920 the daughter of Leo and Helen (Barnes) Wilkinson. She was married to Robert William Minch. She was co-owner of Minch Auto Sales, worked for Lewis and Christin Office Supply in Fort Wayne and Sears Roebuck in Ossian. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Past President of Business Professional Womens Club, 1938 Portland High School graduate and was an accomplished pianist.
Surviving are two sons Mike Minch of Portland and Robert William Minch Jr. of Portland , one daughter Mrs. Bill (Kathy) Cook of Portland, One sister Janelle Bonifas of Bluffton, Eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren

Cassandra Enyart age 26, 102 Silvers Lane Portland passed away Thursday morning at her residence. She was born in Portland January 8, 1984 the daughter of Robert and Letisha (Smith) Enyart. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church , 2002 Jay County graduate and 2009 Ball State University graduate.
Surviving are her parents Bob and Letisha Enyart of Portland, one son Gabriel Enyart of Portland, three brothers Andrew, Micah and James Enyart all of Portland, Paternal grandmother Mrs. Jerry (Eva Lou) Drieling of Mendon, Ohio and maternal grandmother Ruby Smith of Portland, several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery . Connie L. Bricker age 63, 13220 Cherry Street Leo , Indiana passed away Tuesday at her residence. She was born in Jay County June 26, 1946 the daughter of Levon and Martha (Brumm) Rockwell. She was married November 18, 1967 to Charles Max Bricker who survives. She was a supervisor at the Fort Wayne Memorial Coluseum. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Fort Recovery , Ohio .
Surviving are her husband Max, her parents Levon and Martha Rockwell of Portland, Two sons Charles R. Bricker of Zionsville and Cullen M. Bricker of Indianapolis, Three brothers Vernon Rockwell of Portland, Mike Rockwell of Portland and Robert Rockwell of Portland, Two sisters Lesa Rockwell of Portland and Cindy Kasmer of Tempe, Arizona Three grandchildren

Gary P. Gibson age 65, 516 North Pleasant Street Portland passed away Wednesday morning. He was born in Portland November 2, 1944 the son of Vaughn and Florence Virginia (Reeves) Gibson. He was married September 21, 1980 to Patricia Carney who survives. He was a retired Colonel with the United States Airforce. He also taught in the Jay School Corp. in Pennville and worked for the Jay County Health Dept. He had been a director for the Jay County Community Center and Scout Master with the local Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Portland Rotary Club, Portland Elks Lodge, Portland Lions Club and American Legion Post #211.
Surviving are his wife Pat, Two sons Michael Gibson of Ft. Wayne and Gary Patrick Gibson of Muncie, One daughter Mrs. Demetrius (Kelly) Harrell of Hawaii One sister Mrs. Doug (Gaye) Henry of Charlotte, N.C. and Three grandchildren

Thelma Valentine age 89, 215 North Harrison Street Portland passed away Tuesday morning in the Jay County Hospital . She was born in Portland March 5, 1921 the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Stults) Grile. She was married May 17, 1941 to Marion Valentine and he died December 13, 1972. She had worked at Murphy’s in Portland and retired from C.T.S. in Berne . She was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Portland .
Surviving are a son David Valentine of Portland , Two daughters Alice Valentine of Portland and Ellen Caupp of Portland . One brother Raymond Grile of Portland and one sister Mildred Hall of Portland, Two grandchildren

Richard Elmore age 69, former resident of 600 South Meridian Street Portland passed away Sunday afternoon in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare. He was born in Portland December 22, 1939 the son of Newton and Nellie (Brumbaugh) Elmore. He was a 1958 Portland High School graduate and served with the U.S. Navy. He had worked for Teledyne Portland Forge.
Surviving are three sons Steve Elmore of Portland , David Elmore of Tampa , Florida and Jeff Elmore of Bluffton. Three sisters Phyllis Gillespie of Portland , Marlyn Dimmick of Crawfordsville and Ramona Thomas of Castle Rock, Co. Six grandchildren

Juanita K. Gierhart age 73, 1125 South Massachusetts Ave. Portland died Saturday in the Jay County Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in Goose Creek , Texas October 15, 1936 the daughter of Elmo and Lillie Belle (Barnhart) Eakens. She was married in 1999 to Ernie Gierhart who survives. She had worked for Tyson Foods and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Portland .
Surviving are her husband Ernie, Four daughters Debbie Morrical of Portland, Cindy Capellio of Decatur, Venita Maddix of Fort Recovery, Ohio and Cheryl Myers of South Carolina, Two step-daughters Sherry Moore of Portland and Rhonda Lambert of Portland, Twin Sister Anita Fontow of Texas, Eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Larry Fregia.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Rich Secor and Dave McClellan presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home and Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. at the church. Roger Dale Bubp age 85, 119 West 8th Street Portland passed away early Friday in the Jay County Hospital . He was born in Portland September 19, 1924 the son of Guy and Christie (Thomas) Bubp. He was married September 7, 1947 to Jane Prescott who survives. He retired from Westinghouse in Union City and was a disabled WW II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific for two years. He was a member of the West Walnut Street Church of Christ, American Legion Post #211, D.A.V., and V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife Jane, two daughters Mrs. Dave (Jackie) Houck of Portland and Mrs. Richard (Donna Fay) Herrmann of Junction City, Ky. Three grandchildren and Five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Nichols presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 – 3:00 P.M. Rex A. Edmundson age 76, 655 Mulberry Pennville died Friday evening in Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie . He was born in Jay County October 20, 1933 the son of Harold and Ivory (Garringer) Edmundson. He was retired from Indiana Glass and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are two sons Rex Edmundson of Pennville and Gary Edmundson of Tucson, Arizona, Three daughters Mrs. Steve (Sheryl) Stockton of Portland, Mrs. Weldon (Anita) Hines of Redkey and Michelle Edmundson of Pennville, Four sisters Betty Settle of Pennville, Ruby Allen of Bluffton, Lucile Morgan of Dunkirk and Sarah Rarick of Portland, Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Betts presiding. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
