Virginia Downing age 89, former Bryant resident passed away Thursday in Fort Myers , Florida . She was born in Sharpsville , Indiana January 27, 1921 the daughter of Albert and Ethel (Goyer) Singer. She was married April 6, 1941 to James H. Downing and he died February 21, 2002.
Surviving are one son Ronald H. Downing of North Fort Myers , Florida and one sister Ruth “Winnie” Miller of Kokomo Two grandchildren and four great grandchildren
Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant with Rick Downing presiding. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
Emma Irene Bailey age 90, 4781 East 100 South Portland passed away early Monday morning in Swiss Village in Berne . She was born in Jay County Noble Twp. January 12, 1920 the daughter of Cliff and Verda Belle (Reed) Koon. She was married June 23, 1940 to Wayne Bailey who survives. She was a homemaker and member of the Cross Community Church in Berne . She was 1936 Miss Madison Twp. and 1938 graduate of Madison High School .
Surviving are her husband Wayne, Three sons Bill Bailey of Salisburry , N.C. , Bruce Bailey of Portland and Bevan Bailey of Portland , one sister Arletha Arbaugh of Warsaw , In. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren

Sharon Grayson age 70, former 401 Canterbury Lane Portland and Muncie resident passed away Sunday in Persimmon Ridge in Portland . She was born in Hartford City September 24, 1939 the daughter of Gail and Mary Margaret (Winget) Armstrrong. She had worked at Kerr Glass and retired from Littler Die Cast. She was a member of Eagles Aux. in Muncie and American Legion Aux. in Portland .
Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Guy (Tammy) Fisher of Portland and one sister Lana Kay Johnson of Florida

Betty J. Bubp age 88, died Friday morning in The Waters of Yorktown. She was born in Frankfort March 5, 1922 the daughter of Guy and Edna (Loring) Thompson. She was married January 1, 1949 to Wendell Bubp and he died May 21, 2000. She was retired from C.T.S. She attended Yorktown Nazarene Church and was a member of Port Charlotte Methodist Church and Gamma Nu Sorority.
Surviving are one step-son Larry Bubp of Portland , one sister Sarah Applegate of Yorktown , Four step-grandchildren and Nine step-great grandchildren

Ruth O. Theurer age 94, former Portland and Madison Twp. resident passed away Sunday in The Gardens at St. Henry in St. Henry , Ohio . She was born in Fort Recovery , Ohio October 18, 1915 the daughter of William and Flora (Painter) Flaler. She was married August 11, 1951 to Walter M. Theurer and he died April 7, 1995. She was a school teacher who taught in Van Wert, Celina and Fort Recovery , Ohio schools. She also taught at Madison, Noble and retired from East Jay Middle School in 1978. She attended Asbury United Methodist Church and was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Aux. in Salamonia, Fort Recovery and Jay County Historical Societies and Jay County Retired Teachers. She was a 1933 graduate of Fort Recovery High School , a 1938 graduate of Bowling Green University and served with the American Red Cross during WW II.
Surviving are three daughters Mrs. David (Mary Ellen) Miller of St. Marys, Ohio, Mrs. Scott ( Alice ) Miley of Indianapolis and Mrs. Steve (Sarah) Rines of Portland, Eight Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 5:00 P.M. in the Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Rittenhouse and Tom Lightle presiding. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Salamonia Cemetery . Memorials can be to State of the Heart Hospice or Habitat for Humanity. Myrtle D. Bricker age 84, 3663 East 200 North Portland died Saturday afternoon in Adams County Memorial Hospital . She was born in Decatur September 9, 1925 the daughter of Frank and Ella (Myers) Knittle. She was married July 30, 1942 to Lester “Hap” Bricker and he died July 23, 2004. She was a homemaker and with her husband had Circle B Ranch, Happy’s Poultry and Haps Sale Barn.
Surviving are one son Fred Bricker of Portland and one daughter Marjorie Frazier ofKissimmee Florida , Two sisters Ruth Nicodemus of Decatur and Betty Fisher of Fort Wayne , Ten grandchildren, Nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters Judy Weagant and Jackie Petscke.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Harris presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery . Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
Linda Sutton McCoy age 62, 7601 South 175 West Portland passed away Tuesday morning at her daughter’s house in Bryant. She was born in Jay County May 13, 1947 the daughter of Dorwin and Mary Helen (Green) Myron. She was married in 1981 to Perry Sutton and he died in 1993. She later married Larry McCoy who survives. She had worked as a flagman for mobile home transport.
Surviving are her husband Larry, her mother Mary Helen Myron of West Point, MS., two sons Jason Loy of Portland and Mitch Loy of Portland , one daughter Mrs. Eric (Staci) Morehous of Bryant, three step-sons Bruce Sutton of Portland , Rodney Sutton of Portland and Greg Sutton of Portland , one brother Larry Myron of West Point , MS . Three grandchildren
