Jacqueline VanSkyock age 66, 204 West McNeil Street Portland passed away early Tuesday morning in Visiting Nurses Hospice Home in Fort Wayne . She was born in Portland July 1, 1943 the daughter of Nathaniel and Leona Ruth (Franks) Lykins. She was married July 15, 1962 to Richard VanSkyock and he died August 3, 1996. She had worked at C.T.S. in Berne .
Surviving are her mother Ruth Lykins of Portland, Five Sons Ric VanSkyock of Portland, Brian VanSkyock of Fort Wayne, Joe VanSkyock of Converse, Mark VanSkyock of Portland and Kevin VanSkyock of Portland, one brother James Lykins of Bexbach, Germany, one sister Carolyn Tighe of Gas City, Nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery . Philip G. Stolz age 79, 714 South Meridian Street Redkey died Monday at Albany Health Care. He was born in Jay County July 28, 1930 the son of Kenneth and Gladys (Fennig) Stolz. He was married June 12, 1953 to Marilyn Brubaker who survives. He was a First Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was a general contractor and owned and operated the Yesteryear Inn Restaurant in Redkey. He was past president of Redkey Lions Club, Fire Chief with Redkey Fire Department, member of Jay County Band Boosters, Scout Master, Redkey American Legion, Redkey Lifetime Citizen Award and Citizen of the Year from Cincinnatus League.
Surviving are his wife Marilyn, Two sons Philip “P.G.” Stolz of Dunkirk and Shane Stolz of Muncie , Two daughters Shawna Stolz of Redkey and Mrs. Robert (Dawn) May of Pendleton, one brother Wayne Stolz of Bryant and three grandchildren
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Davis presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery . Chiles Rouch age 85, 227 East High Street Redkey passed away early Sunday morning at her residence. She was born in Farmers, Kentucky June 28, 1924 the daughter of Alexander and Gertrude (Swim) Hamilton. She was married December 11, 1953 to Ernest W. Rouch and he died May 25, 1988. She was a homemaker and had worked at Armstrong Glass. She was a member of New Mount Pleasant Methodist Church and watched over several neighborhood children over the years.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Jack (Joan) Gamester of Polk City, Florida and Mrs. James (Naomia) Dayton of Moorehead, Ky. A grandson she raised Doug Davis of Redkey, one brother Glennis Hamilton of Ocala, Florida, Three sisters Lucille Calvert of Ashland, Kentucky, Catherine Alley of Sardinia, Ohio and Georgia Wilson of Upland, Indiana, Nine grandchildren, Sixteen great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery . Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the Redkey Fire Department..

David D. Money age 52, P.O. Box 293 Muncie died Wednesday in Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie . He was born in Hartford City December 5, 1957 the son of Homer and Jayne (Rouse) Money. He had worked in Indianapolis as a Computer Programmer for Allisan. He was a 1976 Jay County High School graduate and member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Surviving are his father and step-mother Homer and Marilyn Money of Kokomo , one brother Rhett Money of Muncie , one sister Marvi Money of Muncie and several cousins.Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Jerry F. Votaw age 76, 427 East Votaw Street Portland passed away Monday morning at his residence. He was born in Muncie February 13, 1934 the son of F. Kenneth and Beulah (Frees) Votaw. He was married in 1957 to Judy Lutz who survives. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy upon graduation from Poling High School in 1952 serving on the USS Kenneth Whiting until his discharge in 1956. He retired in 1994 from Teledyne Portland Forge after 42 years, twenty as a hammer operator and twenty two years as a supervisor. He was a 54 year member of American Legion Post #211 and served as Finance Officer the last two years. He also was a volunteer firefighter for a number of years. An avid sports fan, NASCAR was his favorite and he attended many races at several different tracks.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years Judith, Three daughters Mrs. Dale (Debra) Baldauf of Portland, Mrs. Frank (Angela) Ingram of Portland and Rhonda Votaw of Portland, Two brothers Wendell Votaw of Pennville and James Votaw of Portland. One sister Anne Speer of Oxnard , Ca. Four grandchildren, two step-grandsons, six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Greg in 1979.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Dave McClellan presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery with full military graveside rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. and prior to the services on Thursday. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.

Richard L. Sullivan age 88, 2840 East S.R. 67 Bryant passed away Friday in Chalet Village in Berne . He was born April 8, 1922 in Cleveland , Ohio the son of Louis and Elma (Leichty) Sullivan. He was married in 1948 to Betty Leeper who survives. He was retired from Dunbar Furniture in Berne and was a WW II U.S. Marine Corp. veteran. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Geneva and was a Purple Heart recipient.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery . Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
David Allen Cavanaugh age 44, 115 Bittersweet Lane Portland passed away early Friday morning in Hospice home of Fort Wayne . He was born in Portland September 20, 1965 the son of Larry Cavanaugh and Sue (Settle) Smith. He was married July 20, 2000 to Tina Murdock who survives. He had worked for Color Box in Richmond and was a member of White Water Valley Hog Chapter and Sons of American Legion.
Surviving are his wife Tina, his father Larry Cavanaugh of Portland, his mother Sue Smith of Portland, one son Aaron Cavanaugh of Cowan, three daughters Cassie Cavanaugh of Cowan, Katelyn Cavanaugh of Cowan and Kathie Whitesel of Portland, two sisters Ande Cavanaugh of Portland and Theresa Cavanaugh of Portland, three grandchildren
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Bill Jefferson presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery .
